Our talented veterinary team is proud to provide the Troutdale and Gresham pet communities with the best possible compassionate care. Our veterinary hospital offers wellness care, dental care and emergency medical care for dogs, cats, birds, exotics, small pets and small mammals.
We also work closely with Multnomah County Animal Clinic, providing free exams to pets from the clinic.
Troutdale Wellness Programs, Emergency Vet Care, Pet Dental Care and More!
Dr. Ken DeRemer, a veterinarian since 1983, founded Paws and Claws Medical Center as a house call practice. The doors to our veterinary hospital officially opened in 1994, and we have been proudly serving the Troutdale and Gresham communities ever since. Joining Dr. DeRemer at Paws and Claws are Dr. Christina Huntsinger and Dr. Monica Pollock, two outstanding veterinarians with a passion for providing everything from routine wellness screenings to emergency vet care. Our small, local, family-owned practice is dedicated to giving you and your pet the best quality care and outstanding customer service in a friendly, family-oriented environment.
Our pet wellness program is designed to keep your pets in good health by detecting and treating any conditions before they can develop into a serious illness. We believe prevention is the best medicine, and recommend annual exams for all pets. Small mammals (such as rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs) experience numerous health changes over the course of one year, and since their life spans are typically short, regular wellness screenings are critical. We also provide spay and neuter services, routine vaccinations and annual vaccination boosters for cats and dogs.

We are one of the only veterinary hospitals in the Troutdale and Gresham communities to offer exotic vet care. Pet dental care is extremely important to ensuring your pet enjoys a long and active life. Just like in humans, plaque and tartar can build up on teeth, leading to an infection along the gum line. Without proper treatment, this infection can spread through the bloodstream, affecting your pet’s internal organs including the heart, liver and kidneys. During a routine dental examination, we remove plaque and polish the teeth’s surface to resist the growth of bacteria, keeping your pet’s smile healthy and bright.
In the event of an emergency, rest assured that your pet is in good hands with our emergency vet care services. We welcome all pets during our office hours; no appointment is ever needed. If possible, we ask that you give us a call while you are on the way so we can have a veterinarian ready to assist your pet upon arrival. Our veterinarians are experienced providers of emergency cat and dog surgery. Our emergency vet hospital is equipped with the latest technology, including digital radiology, so we can quickly and safely diagnose and treat your pet’s condition. We also offer urgent care appointments, and will do our best to squeeze your pet in as quickly as possible.
Whether your pet needs standard vaccinations, spay neuter services, advanced dog surgery or exotic vet care, our veterinary hospital is proud
to provide the best possible care to Troutdale and Gresham pets. We invite you to visit our veterinary hospital, meet with a veterinarian and see the difference that personal attention and compassionate care make in the life of your pet! If you have any questions, please call us at 503-405-1476 today. Categories
