Need a veterinarian in Troutdale or Gresham? Our team has been serving your community since 1994, and we’re ready to meet your pet too. Read below to learn more about our animal hospital and the services we offer.
Our Veterinary Philosophy
When you bring your pet to Paws & Claws, you can count on our team to take their health and happiness very seriously. Our Troutdale veterinarian, Dr. DeRemer, keeps his patients on track with regular preventative care and thorough diagnostic care. He knows how important it is to give thorough exams and test samples quickly and accurately so that we can move on to treatment. Our in-house radiology and laboratory departments make it possible to expedite these tests, and our team provides thorough care every step of the way.
In fact, our team is so committed to the health of every newly adopted pet that we offer free wellness exams through the Multnomah County Animal Shelter and the Oregon Humane Society. We don’t think any animal should suffer from preventable illnesses, injuries, or parasites, so we do our part to improve the welfare of pets throughout Troutdale and Gresham.
History of Paws & Claws Pet Medical Center
After graduating from the University of California at Davis in 1983 Dr. Ken DeRemer moved to the Portland area where he dreamed of establishing a veterinary hospital to treat a variety of pets with professional and compassionate care. While working to build our facility he started a house-call practice where he first began meeting our human and animal neighbors in Troutdale and Gresham. Paws & Claws Pet Medical Center officially opened in 1994 and has been working ever since to provide quality healthcare for all pets.
Our veterinarian now provides services for dogs, cats, birds, and small mammals in a high-tech environment where we treat all pets with loving care. Paws & Claws Pet Medical Center is also one of the only veterinary hospitals in the area to provide care for exotic pets. Dr. DeRemer was joined in 2006 by Dr. Monica Pollock, a native Oregonian, who obtained her veterinary degree from the combined Oregon State University and Washington State University Veterinary Medicine program. Dr. Pollock brings a love for preventative and geriatric care to our practice, along with a concentration in pet surgery and internal medicine.
Dr. Christina Huntsinger came to Paws & Claws in 2007 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While focusing primarily on pet dental care and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and renal failure, Dr. Huntsinger also works to educate pet owners about improving the everyday quality of life for their pets.
Quality Care at Our Veterinary Hospital
Our veterinarians and our whole team of caregivers are working every day to improve the quality of life for pets in our Troutdale and Gresham communities. Whether your pet needs a routine wellness screening, pet vaccinations, pet dental care, or is in need of emergency vet care, we are here to look after the health of your pet and ease any concerns you may have. We know that visiting a veterinary hospital may not always be under the best of circumstances for both you and your pet, so we strive to make both of you as comfortable as possible. Our veterinarians will listen to you, answer any questions you have about your pet’s care, and provide the information you need about preventative healthcare for your pet.
We work to make everything needed for quality pet care available in one convenient location so you won’t have to drive from place to place to obtain necessary services. If our veterinarian needs to find the cause behind any unusual symptoms in your pet, we can get results using our in-house diagnostic technology and laboratory facilities. Medications are quickly available from our in-house pharmacy.
