Visit Paws & Claws Pet Medical Center in Troutdale, OR to Learn About Pet Adoption Month
As the air cools and the leaves darken it may be the time of year to open your heart to a new family member. October is officially Shelter Dog Adoption Month. The ASPCA set aside this month to raise awareness of the need for people to open their homes and hearts to needy dogs across the nation. Start your holiday season out with an additional member of the family to love, with pet adoption. Pet adoption leads to a win-win situation for your family and the dog in need.
What Can You Do?
If you already have enough dogs in your home you can still participate in the month by donating your time, money, or resources (pet food, supplies) to your local Troutdale shelter. If the time is right to adopt another dog or your first pet, then visit an animal shelter and meet all of the residents who are eager to be a part of your forever home. You can also participate on social media by joining the ASPCA on Facebook, Twitter, or/and Instagram for 31 Days of Rescue Dogs. You simply post a photo each day of your favorite rescue dog all month with the hashtag #31DaysOfRescueDogs and ask your friends to donate a dollar a day to your page in trade for all those adorable potential pet photos you will have shared that month. Those who donate will receive a treat from the ASPCA and you will also get a Team ASPCA tote if your friends contribute $250 or more!
